Care
The Home Care
Department of Family Service Society of Yonkers (FSSY) Is
licensed by the New York State Department of Health and
accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of
Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
Located in southwest Yonkers,
FSSY serves the frail elderly and disabled throughout
Westchester County and the Bronx. By providing Home Care Aides,
Nurses and Social Workers, FSSY’s multicultural, multilingual
staff is able to assist patients with their wish to remain in
their home and community.
In collaboration with various
government and private agencies, the dedicated staff of FSSY is
acutely sensitive to the special needs of the aging and
homebound population.
The Healthcare
Team is available for consultation and emergencies on a
twenty-four hour, seven day a week basis.
In addition to
providing Home Care services, FSSY offers free Personal Care
Aide and Home Health Aide Training Programs, each approved by
the New York State Department of Health. Students learn the
theory and practice of home care and are transitioned into the
field setting under the supervision of a professional nurse.

Telemedicine
FSSY offers home-bound patients the
ability to have key vital signs monitored remotely from their
homes with New York State Department of Health-approved
equipment. Patient information is monitored daily by FSSY’s
staff of Registered Nurses.
Companion/Escort
Home care aides can be provided to
those individuals requiring a companion in their homes or
nursing/rehabilitation facilities, or to those needing an escort
for various purposes, such as doctor visits or visits to family
and friends. Bilingual (English-Spanish) aides available.
Home Health
Care Training
FSSY offers free New York State
Department of Health (NYS DOH) approved home care training
programs leading to NYS DOH certifications as Personal Care
Aides and Home Health Aides. These certifications are valid for
work anywhere in New York State.
Health and Wellness Education
FSSY, under contract with the
Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services,
sponsors an outreach to local senior centers, presenting
information about medical-related issues, with an emphasis on
medication management.
